The Department of Architectural Research pursues its long-term scholarly goals through an on-going program of research and publication. As part of this work, we visit and assess dozens of historic properties each year. The product of this fieldwork is usually a set of high-quality digital photographs and a short written report; when appropriate, it also includes detailed measured drawings. Here we will soon post illustrated field memoranda from some of our most recent research trips.

The Buildings of Williamsburg
In addition to our work further a-field, we are constantly re-assessing the historic resources here in Williamsburg. Our research in town takes many forms, from short memos to extensive historic structures reports. Here, we present a sample of illustrated shorter entries on some of the eighteenth-century buildings in town. In time, we will also include discussions of important reconstructed buildings in this section.
