Directions
From the Historic Area, walking
  • Walk east down Duke of Gloucester Street towards the Capitol.
  • Turn left at Botetourt Street, the next left after the Printing Office.
  • Walk three blocks, and cross Lafayette Street.
  • Walk down the ramp through the tunnel which goes under the railroad tracks. Bruton Heights School is straight ahead on the right (the rightmost of the three clustered buildings).
From Richmond (and points west)
  • Take I-64 East toward Virginia Beach to Exit 238 (Colonial Williamsburg).
  • Bear right at end of ramp onto Route 143.
  • Continue approximately 1.7 miles (through two traffic lights) and bear right onto Capitol Landing Road.
  • Turn right onto First Street (the last right just before the bridge). Bruton Heights School is the first building on the right.
From Virginia Beach (and points east)
  • Take I-64 West toward Richmond to Exit 238 (Colonial Williamsburg).
  • Turn left at end of ramp onto Route 143.
