  • Principles of Freedom: The Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution
  • Currently on display at the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum is the exhibit, "Principles of Freedom: The Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution." This exhibit highlights signers of the Declaration of Independence featuring pieces from the Pat and Jerry B. Epstein American History Document Collection in the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library. The Epsteins, friends of the Foundation who have a great respect for American history, have spent years acquiring examples of writings by each of the signers as well as a rare copy of the Declaration of Independence produced by William Stone in 1823. Selections from this important collection will be explored for the historical significance of the document and its signers.

  • Article from the Colonial Williamsburg Interpreter, Volume 24, No. 2 (2003), by historian Kevin Kelly explores the lives of middling planters in York County. The article was written in conjunction with research leading to the creation of Great Hopes Plantation, a model of a typical plantation on the outskirts of Williamsburg in the mid to late 18th century.
