New Acquisitions
What are the latest additions to the library’s collection
purchased for my department?
Find them on LibraryThing.com.
In October 2006 after some experimentation, the Technical Services staff began
entering recent book acquisitions in LibraryThing.com as well as in the library
catalog. While the library catalog allows one to sort by date of publication,
it cannot pick out recent donations or purchases that were published in the
past. Furthermore, the subjects used in the catalog are much more specialized
than the general tags used for browsing in LibraryThing.com.
Each book entered is given a tag that indicates its subject areas. Look at
a list
of the tags used by Rockefeller catalogers.
Information about each book include:
Author, Title, Publication Information, Call Number, Tag, and Entry Date (when
the item is cataloged).
The information you see depends on the Display choice you make. The Library
has a suggested style for viewing our titles. Click on “(use it)”
in the top right quarter of the screen.
One can sort the list in a variety of ways. For example, you can sort books
by Tag (alphabetically) and bring together the Religion books recently added
to the collection.
Sometimes books in LibraryThing.com are not yet available on the shelf. Contact
a Public Services staff member at 565-8512 or email libcirc@cwf.org to place
a hold on the book.
New videos, DVDs, CDs, and microfilm are not included.
