Visual Resources
The Visual Resources Collection, part of the Special Collections Department,
encompasses over 500,000 items, including black and white photographs, slides,
large format transparencies, postcards, digitized images, and negatives. These
images include photography taken to support Colonial Williamsburg's marketing,
publications, products, education, and museum programs. Record photographs taken
by the departments of Archaeological Research, Architectural Research and Collections
document research projects, buildings and objects owned by Colonial Williamsburg.
A photographic study collection includes images of artwork, maps, manuscripts,
and rare books relating to eighteenth-century American history.
