Visual Resources Collection Scope

The Visual Resources Collection, located within the Special Collection section of the Rockefeller Library, provides reference and reproduction services for the following visual collections:

Staffordshire teapot, 1740-1745 Images of works of art and objects in the collections of the Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, including the Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, and Bassett Hall.
Blue Jay from Mark Catesby's Natural History of Carolina , , ,, 1771.
Images of rare books, manuscripts, maps, historical photographs, and architectural drawings housed in the Special Collections section of the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library.
Thomas Jefferson (r), portrayed by Bill Barker, and Patrick Henry (l), portrayed by Richard Schumann, stand together at the Capitol.
Images taken by Colonial Williamsburg’s Department of Productions, Publications, and Learning Ventures to document programming, special events, personnel, and exhibition buildings at Colonial Williamsburg, and illustrate publications, video productions, and Electronic Field Trip broadcasts and teaching materials.
These buttons and sleeve links dating from the late 18th-century were found during an archaeological excavation of the root cellar at the site of the Carter’s Grove Slave Quarter, 1996. Images taken by Colonial Williamsburg’s architectural historians, archaeologists, and architectural conservators to document projects and archaeological and architectural artifacts.
