Visit the Site

Visitors to Colonial Williamsburg are invited to stop by to watch us dig. We will be on the site Monday through Friday between May 28 and August 29, 2008. Archaeologists work from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. each day, weather permitting,* with occasional breaks for field trips and classroom lectures. When students are engaged in off-site activities, there will generally be an interpreter present to talk about the excavation.

The site is located at the corner of Nicholson and Botetourt Streets. You are welcome to come up to the edge of the excavation, look, and ask questions. For safety’s sake, however, please remain behind the barriers.

If you are not able to see the site physically, or you want to see what we are doing after your visit, please keep up to date by visiting our site blog.

* Rain and extreme heat (sustained actual temperatures of over 100°) are conditions in which archaeologists may not be working.
