Pit Sawing

The Department of Historic Trades here at Colonial Williamsburg has been working on a variety of carpentry jobs for the reconstruction of Charlton's. One of the first tasks was preparing and pit sawing roughly finished timber into the large structural beams and posts of the Coffeehouse frame. Much of the carpentry work was done at Great Hopes Plantation, near the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center
